Kinder Field Trip: Avilon Zoo

When I first found out we were going to Avilon Zoo, I wasn't thrilled at all.
From Enchanted Kingdom and Zoobic Safari, Avilon Zoo was a little bit of a downer; or so I thought.
I thought Avilon Zoo was just like any other zoo we've been to here in the city.
Apparently, I was wrong.

Located in Barrio San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal, Philippines, Avilon Zoo is currently the largest zoological institution in the country. It houses the most diverse collection of wildlife.

Jake and Teena Gaw, the owners of Avilon Zoo, are sometimes called modern-day Tarzan and Jane.
Jake initially just loves collecting animals.
He originally accommodated his pets, including a lion, at home.
Complaints from neighbors arose when they found out about the lion.
So, he relocated them. It was just a private place for their family at first, until they were convinced by their friends to open it to public after his collection got BIGGER.

I caught myself in awe when we got inside.
The place was a picturesque.

We were greeted by the Arapaimas.
Arapaima is one of the largest freshwater fish in the world.
And yes, they were HUGE.

We then went to where the geese, swans, and ducks were.

They have Koi, too. :)

The road to the large reptiles...

The feathered folks :)

Doesn't he look familiar?
I sang "Hakuna Matata" when I saw him. :)

The hungry arapaimas waiting to be fed. :)

They were very strong :)

Chicken heads for the hungry arapaimas.
A serving costs P20.

The nocturnal's nook :)

The Felid Lane :)

Felids are nocturnal.

See? :)

I didn't have photos of the tiger because Lia and I walked too slow. Our group had already passed by the tigers when we arrived. Haha. Plus, it doesn't smell so good in there. Tigers mark their territories with their urine and anal gland secretion, thus the odor.

Snack Time!

An orangutan asking for food.

Before realizing the orangutan was asking for food.

For some reason, Lia had her heart broken when she saw the orangutan asking for food.
She felt so bad. She kept expressing pity.
She even got teary-eyed.
One of the reasons why I don't want her to watch dramas, they always affect her.

Anyhoo, they had owls too.

Fennec Fox

Flamingo :)

a little bit of us along the way...

We took turns in taking photos :)

More reptiles...
I swear I wanted to kick the guy who knocked on every glass after I stopped a kid from doing it.
Haha.

Since I'm currently obsessing on neon, I loved it. :)

Tortoise :)

 Farm Animals :)

I never knew donkeys could grow this big 'til I saw one en route Zoobic Safari last year.

With the Birds :)
P50 to hold them and have photos taken with them.

It was soo worth it.
They were adorable.

with Iago. How I wish we brought Lia's Princess Jasmine costume. :)))

It sure was great.
I don't usually get tired even after a very long day, but I just dropped dead when we came home.
It was worth it, though.
Avilon Zoo was great!

  1. I've been to Avilon zoo many years ago with my daughter during their field trip, as well. It brought us a different kind of experience although that time, I wasn't comfortable because of the extremely hot weather.

  2. Wow, you sure did enjoy this trip. I hope I could pay this a visit sometime. They do have a diverse set of animals there. Manila Zoo does not have much animals to gawk at anymore.

  3. You look so calm holding the birds. What a trooper!
I think my aunts would panic seeing those reptiles.

  4. My kids would be scared of the snakes and the other reptiles. But they'd love those flamingos. What an experience.
